Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease where the insulin producing beta cells of the pancreas have been destroyed. Everyone needs insulin to survive. Type 1 diabetes is also known as insulin dependent diabetes. There are no miracle "snake oil" cures or special diets. Children and adults with type 1 or juvenile diabetes must inject insulin by syringe, insulin pen, or insulin pump; but insulin is not a cure. It is only life support.
The intention of this Web site is to spread awareness about type 1 diabetes. The symptoms for type 1 are extreme thirst, frequent urination, blurry vision, fatigue, sudden weight loss, sugar in urine, sometimes flu-like symptoms such as vomiting, and other symptoms. If you or someone you know is experiencing these signs, please seek medical attention immediately. Undiagnosed or untreated type 1 diabetes is life threatening.
